ATC's patented Stress-Strain Microprobe® (SSM) technology saves you time and money while increasing safety and efficiency. Tensile and Fracture Toughness properties of metals are obtained without costly conventional destructive tension and fracture toughness tests using the innovative Automated Ball Indentation (ABI) test technique of our SSM systems. The ABI technique measures key mechanical properties from each single test in a nondestructive and localized fashion.

Over the past 10 years, thousands of ABI tests have been conducted on metallic structural components (pressure vessels, forgings, coke drums, oil and gas pipelines, offshore platforms, bridges, etc.) using our miniature/field SSM-M1000 systems. The in-situ nondestuctive ABI tests have helped numerous customers in various industries to deterministically assess the structural integrity of these components following normal and accident service conditions, and to improve the operational efficiency safely and expeditiously. Our SSM equipment is the only proven technology worldwide with 100% satisfied customers and with numerous prestigious awards (e.g. 2008 New Pipeline Technology award, 1996 R&D 100, 1992 Advanced Technology award).

ATC manufactures laboratory and field SSM Systems, provides field and laboratory testing and analysis services, and related consulting services that include fitness-for-service, failure analysis, fracture mechanics, and R&D.

ABI Standard Test Methods now published on ATC's website. This ATC standard is superior to many ASTM standards because it is purely technical and has precision values from a complete round-robin study.
