Using the SSM system, ATC's engineers and technicians perform structural integrity testing directly on your components. In-Situ testing eliminates the need to cut samples or decommission components for destructive testing using our ABI technique.

The integration of ABI-measured key mechanical properties with crack/defect measurements, such as the conventional UT or eddy-current techniques, allows for deterministic structural integrity assessment that is superior to any probabilistic risk assesment method.

Examples where the SSM can save you time and money:

  • Meet increased energy demands utilizing existing pipeline assets by safely up-rating the transmission pressure of oil and gas pipelines
  • Nondestructively measure the tensile properties of pipelines that do not have documentation. Verify grade certifications (B, X42, X52, X65, etc.) for new or existing pipelines, and for repair sections that usually have no documentation because of their small quantity
  • Measure the actual key mechanical properties of welds in new construction and repairs onsite
  • Reduce expensive pipeline accidents and their environmental damage
  • Comply with new regulations for safe operation and production of effective pipeline integrity management plans. Complement conventional NDE inspections (using in-line smart pigs or off-shore instruments) with ATC's innovative nondestructive measurements of key mechanical properties to obtain robust fracture mechanics analysis and to apply Level III of Fitness-for-Service (API RP-579)
  • New pipeline evaluation of base metals and welds
