Structural integrity testing

The nondestructive SSM technology determines fracture toughness properties to monitor the structural integrity of aging ships over their design service life, following mitigation actions such as weld repairs, and through life extension. In recent years, several ships have disappeared in so rapidly that not even a distress signal was sent. Ships may not be designed on a fracture control basis to account for high-stress situations or may have lower ductile steel.
